Stereophonics drummer found dead

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has been found dead in his home town of Aberdare, his family have confirmed. He was just 40.

Cable was famously sacked from the band in 2003 after more than a decade playing together.

He went on to a successful career as a music broadcaster on radio and television.

In recent years he had been drumming again with the Stone Gods (featuring ex-Darkness members) and his own group Killing For Company, who supported The Who at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium in 2007.

His mother released a statement saying: “Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly. He is now settled down and then this has happens. It has not sunk in yet.”

The cause of death has not yet been determined.
