The anniversary of the D-Day landings was marked yesterday with a spectacular parachute jump over Normandy.
Five hundred paratroopers jumped out over a site near Sainte Mere Eglise in remembrance of the landings on 6 June, 1944.
In San Deigo American parachutists also re-enacted the daring drop behind enemy lines.
You can read some remarkable stories of D-Day on Lasting Tribute, including those of celebrated paratroop commander Terence Otway, British agent Pearl Witherington who helped sabotage the German defenses, and even Star Trek actor James Doohan who took part in the landings with the Royal Canadian Artillery.
