The Beatles have been forgiven by the Vatican for putting “satanic messages” into their songs.An article in official paper, L'Osservatore Romano, praises their music in spite of “mysterious messages, that were possibly even Satanic”.
“What would pop music have been like without the Beatles?” it muses whimsically.
In November 2008 a similar article forgave John Lennon for saying the band were “bigger than Jesus” in 1966.
So it looks like The Beatles are in the clear as far as the Holy See goes. Who’s next on the list of pop music sinners? Black Sabbath, perhaps?
