Soldier killed in Afghanistan was a father-to-be

Trooper James Leverett, who died in Afghanistan on Monday, was expecting his first child.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed the death of the Royal Dragoon Guards soldier this morning.

Trooper Leverett’s girlfriend Tiffany is due to give birth to a son in September.

The 20-year-old from Yorkshire was killed in an explosion while on security duty at the building of a new civilian transport link in Helmand.

A second soldier is due to be named in the next 24 hours. The Ministry of Defence has also confirmed that a Royal Marine killed last week will not be named at the present time.
