First of two soldiers killed in Afghanistan named

Rifleman Philip Allen, who has just been named by the Ministry of Defence, was a member of 2 RIFLES who had stayed behind in Afghanistan after the rest of his battalion had returned home, in order to gain experience.

He died on Saturday while on patrol near Sangin, killed by a mine.

Another soldier, who died the following day, is yet to be named.
